L. P. ATony@ Hornthal, Jr. is the recipient of the J. Robert Elster Award for Professional Excellence.  This award is presented by the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys and is awarded to a member who exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethics.

 

Tony Hornthal is a senior partner in the Elizabeth City law firm of Hornthal, Riley, Ellis & Maland, L.L.P.  Tony has enjoyed a career spanning over four decades that has touched nearly every area of civil litigation. Tony has diligently served as a leader for the legal profession by serving in many offices including the Board of Governors and as president of the North Carolina Bar Association, he served as a member of the Disciplinary Hearing Commission of the North Carolina State Bar, and is currently a member of the Judicial Standards Commission, appointed by the State Bar Council.  Tony also chaired the Claims Committee of the Lawyer Mutual Liability Insurance Company of N.C. for several years.  Tony=s dedication to the legal profession is also  reflected in Tony=s service to his community both as an attorney and as an individual.
