W. Brock Mitchell is a native of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Having earned degrees from the College of Charleston, the Mississippi College School of Law, and the University of Denver, his commitment to education is clear.

He is married to the former Claudia Boyd.  Mr. Mitchell and his wife, Claudia, have three daughters:  Mary Bowers ("Bo"), Lydia and Lucy.
